Hi all, It sure seems there are a lot of people that have ra blood tests come back positive, mine's not an exception. But, I have RSD in my legs, and it hurts pretty good, but three times in the last year I have had such a deep pain in the hip joints themselves I could hardly walk. No other places, just the hip joints. Can I do any damage from exercise?
thank you, Laurin

Hi, I too have severe pain in both hips, initially thought to be RA but later found to be OA. The best exercise I've found is swimming, I've tried most other forms of exercise but this was the only one that make me feel "normal". I'm now waiting for hip replacements, one in December and one next April, in the meantime I keep taking the pain killers! Hope you can find a way to lessen the pain in your hips, good luck to you, Sue

HI Sue1965 and id3340. I just wrote on another thread, but I am 52 and have had two hip replacements this last year, so good luck on yours coming up, Sue1965. I waited and waited and excessive usage made my OA worse as the years passed. So, I wore myself out by doing things that I shouldn't have. I agree with swimming. It's great, id3340. Do it till you have to have surgery and surgery will take away that awful OA pain. You will have other pains and aches, possibly, after surgery, if you still have OA other places, but in my case, I can Walk and Stand for the first time in many years, without pain in my hips. I recommend not only surgery, but swimming till then. I cannot sit for long periods of time and have some nerve damage in my right leg as a result of the surgery but I'll take it; I can stand and walk. Good luck and keep in touch about what happens to both of you!!
