I had extreme foot pain on both feet on the outside area where the little toe connects. This was the result of excess bone, which caused constant presure against my shoe. I wear extra wide shoes, and tried shoe stretchers with the knob to buldge out that area. Nothing worked!. I finally decided to have surgery ( under advice of a specialist ). He shaved the bone on the outside of my right foot. I took 3 months off before going back to work. Everything healed fine and my foot feels great!. A year later I had my left foot done, but went back to work after 2 months ( MISTAKE!! ) I developed a neuroma and had severe pain, I then had A series of cortizone injections in my foot ( 2 ). It took me an aditional 6 months to heal. Both my feet feel great now. I found that when your feet hurt, so does your lower back area!.
Advice not to have surgery on my neuroma was by my specialist.
