i have been diagnosed with MAV. I take 10mg nightly of Amitryptiline to prevent migraines. Even so, I typically get "dizzy" as my hormones change near and around menstruation.

While my headaches and dizziness have been largely under control, in the past year I've had two (one I'm in the midst of) spells of 24-7 dizziness. The last time was in December after a chest/head cold. I went to a doctor and he prescribed Meclizine--it worked!

Fast forward to October and I've been dizzy 24-7 for a week. I asked my doctor about trying the Meclizine again and its been 3 days--no change yet. I did have a cold about 2 weeks ago.

I wonder if this is cold or migraine related? I wonder why I get these spells of prolonged dizziness? It makes me anxious because I don't know if it will go away again. Seems to come on out of nowhere.:(
