Hi..
I am 31 and had surgery on 12/15/00 and was wondering how long recovery is going to be. I had my cast removed 2 weeks post-op. I will have my pin removed in 2 more weeks..I am planning for a cruise in the end of April..Do you think I will be back to normal by then? Thanks for the help!

Hi, i had bunion surgery on 10-6-00 and i'm just starting to feel better now with the swelling and all. my surgery however was extensive where my dr. had to cut the bones also in 2 places. i had 3 pins and 2 sets of stitches and i had a below the knee cast and was on crutches for 8 weeks. so after that it was hard for me to walk because i had lost all muscle in my leg and my whole foot hurt for like 3 weeks after when i would walk from it being immobilized for so long. your surgery doesn't seem that extensive as mine was. i'd give it like 3 months at least. i am now wearing a surgical stockingette for the swelling and it works great. you can pick them up at any surgical supply place, but their kinda expensive, like $55 a pair. my dr. recommended that i get it to help with the swelling since i'm on my feet all day. my dr. said that swelling can last up to 6 months. the most important thing is to keep your foot elevated whenever possible. it helps a lot with the throbbing and swelling. hope i helped a little. if you have any more questions just ask.
