View Full Version : Pregnancy Tests?

How accurate are the Dollar General (Baby Test) pregnancy tests or the regular Dollar Store brand tests? If I did in fact ovulate on my own on September 25th (day I noticed a teeny bit of EWCM), I would be about 13DPO as of today. I broke down & took a test a few minutes ago and it was negative but I have all of these symptoms ... Ugh!

How do you feel about these tests? I am very irregular so I can't test when AF is late. That is too difficult to determine.

Hello Kris.... I was pretty unsure about the dollar store tests myself. I have been pregnant 6 times and used them and many many others. For me, they are actually better. I have had positives as early as 9 DPO on 3 occasions. For me this was a process that would not end there. I would take a few more within a few hours because of the shock and disbelief of the positive result. Then the blood test would confirm that I was "just barely" pregnant.

I did some research and forgive me as its been about 2 years and I don't actually remember the brands I compared but, there were about 8. Many of the less expensive brands were far better than the bigger name brands. They are made to measure the HCG and some actually are made to detect your levels as low as 25 were many....maybe even most are set to detect at 50 or even 100. So, it would take many more days for your levels to he high enough for those tests.
I would buy my tests from The "Dollar Tree" and I would get a positive and the same day I would test with another test and I would get a positive.

I do remember there was a site that listed them all... name brands and what level they would detect your hormone. I wish I still knew it!

Good luck to you..... I hope this has helped. I hope whichever one you use shows you the BFP you deserve!!!:D

Thank you so much for your help and research!

I know which site your talking about - I've been there already & read everything, lol. The Dollar General test I took last night came out positive; the digital this morning and 2 more Dollar General tests that I took within a 2 hour period were negative!

It stinks. I don't know what to think or believe:( Kind of disappointed but I know when I went back into the bathroom RIGHT before the 10min mark, there was a 2nd PINK line ... and I read that evap lines are gray, indented and most people haven't even seen them on the cheapies. Also, I was told not to trust the EPT digital by a lot of people! I'm a POAS addict, haha!

Thank you so much! Your so sweet, hehe! :D *blush*

I am so worried - I've taken 3 cheapies today - all of them came out negative. Why is that but yet last night it was positive - clearly 2 pink lines, and my mom & hubby saw it as well. (she came by as soon as I called her about the test, hahah) They have all been the same Dollar General tests!! I don't get it or understand :(

I know last nights wasn't an evap line; there's no way because I read it within the 10 minute period (I left after staring at it for 1 minute; came back before 10 minutes was up and there was a 2nd pink line) ... and also, the other cheapies I've taken today are stark white with the dark purple/pink Control line ... nothing else, not even an evap line after 7 hours of them sitting on the counter!!

What do I think? I heard it COULD be chemical pregnancy but I don't see how that is possible, lol.

Chemical pregnancy....... ugh! :( Unfortunately I have had 2 of those ugly things! I hate to worry you but, I do remember mine were faint and then I got negatives. I also had a negative after a real positive that wasn't a chemical pregnancy. So, in my opinion..... you were told correct information. I have a clotting disorder that makes me have to have the blood work done the day I get a positive HPT so, I knew it was chemical. I guess my advise is to have blood work done asap....so you will know... either way. If you wait to long and it is in fact a chemical pregnancy..... your hcg will drop ....fast. My doc explained it to me....basically the egg and the little swimmer meet but, never implant properly.
Good luck sweetie! I hope we get great news soon!!!

By the way..... My Dh is Josh as well..... but, we have 2 goofy dogs. :)
