View Full Version : high platelet

runny blood

Hi. I've had a 600,000-650,000 platelet count for a year. I passed out during the attempt at a bone marrow biopsy. Now I am to have a JAK2 test. Diagnoised with myeloproliferative syndrome. What does this boil down to simply?

When I was first tested for jak2 my platelet count was 1.5 million, don't know how long it was high. I tested positive. What that means is I have a mutation that makes my bone marrow make too many platelets. I take hydrea to control my platelets and have had no side effects from the hydrea. I have found that a low dose that keeps me around 500,000 works best for me. If I take enough medicine to get me in the "normal" range, my white blood cell count goes too low and I start to become anemic. I am an otherwise healthy 40 year old female, mother of three, teacher. Let us know how the test comes out.
