Hi ladies,
My first IVF just failed and we're thinking about trying again. I was wondering how long do you have to wait between IVFs. My ER says one cycle only.
Thanks

Hi Luba, I think all RE's are different. Mine would have let us start right after our BFN if my ovaries had been clear, but we waited a cycle because I had cysts.....I started BCP right after I got AF from the BFN but I have endo so it important that if I am not cycling I am suppressed. We got our BFN on 8/1 and started cycle # 2 with lupron on 9/21.
How are you doing? You seem to be handling the BFN so well, I really admire you. Its great you are allready moving forward. AimeeM

Hi Luba.
I am very sorry to hear that your first IVF didn't work. Don't despair - it took me 2 tries.
My RE protocol is like this.... when you get BFN, within a few days you get AF, during that next cycle, they monitor you to make sure your ovaries quiet down and that your body gets rest, they also go over your case to review it to figure out if there is anything else to try different next time, and they also get your RX ready again so you can order all your meds. When the 2nd AF comes, which is about 5-6 weeks after BFN, that is the cycle I started up in again. so i got my BFN in early June, and at the end of July, I was in my next IVF cycle. i personally think it is smart to wait out one cycle because if you start before your body is ready it will just end up in cancelling the cycle mid-way through because of cysts or wacky response to meds and that to me is more devastating then waiting 4 weeks. plus it gives you a mental break and some time to relax and clear your head before starting up again.
Best of luck to you. I know the next cycle will be your lucky one!

CBB,
You say you were in your next IVF cycle in the end of July. Does it mean you started BCP or went strait to lupron?
Thanks

Hey Luba, I just wanted to let you know that my RE had me on bcp after my first IVF cancelled cycle. He also said that if we postponed this transfer (which I am NOT postponing ;) ), I would probably go on bcp to quiet everything down. But I am quite sure that every RE will go about it based on the patient that is being cared for, so surely it depends.
I will be thinking of you and hope that you are able to try again very soon!
