FeelinNullity 10-11-2007, 09:57 AM I need to understand. I read 7 stages and still confuse. Can dementia be a mental illness without alzheimer been present?
Is dementia present in other mental illness or is it an illness of its own?
Never more confused.
Try to read between words guys, am not 'all there' and not all the time so using what i have today to ask. Starting here parents-kids find 'absence' or 'werid' things funny but when i do realise last tin on my mind is smile.
How to know if its early-mild dementia, aslzeithermer or something else?
Keep simple in your answer please.
Thank you
Martha H 10-11-2007, 12:17 PM Welcome to this helpful group. They have helped me a lot as I took care of my mother.
There are many kinds of dementia. Alzheimer's is one of them.
They all have pretty much the same kind of symptoms, and get worse very slowly. Keep in close contact with your doctor and follow his advice. Good luck to you!

All pass with 'jokes' or 'its age' or 'make fun at' and if insits put down and worse are the threats (if keep going - asking help- or only bring topic on).
Cant imagine result if am not wrong and need help mental..... break and lose family?????
Subject is consider 'UNWELKOME' and 'IGNORE' by all family.
How to make them undertsand not be sacred and ignorance dont makethings go away or better?
I am not young and kids are marred and live far.
Am feeling very alone and deperssed
ToBeFreeToRoam 10-12-2007, 12:49 AM Feelingnullity,
About the only way that you might show them, is to show them this posting on this alzheimers board. Or to type them a word like: drink = I need water, or up = help me up.
Might work.

ibake&pray 10-12-2007, 12:19 PM Welcome...
I guess my first question would be have you been to your family doctor and been checked out to see what the problems are? That really needs to be your first step. Do you have someone that you are comfortable taking along with you to help you with the questions and answers? Two heads are always better than one..even with folks who have no issues! It doesn't have to be a family member.
try contacting the local AZ. chapter and see if they can offer some help or information for you. YOu don't mention where you live so it's difficult to say who can help you. There are agencies that can offer help.
I know how difficult this is for you. IT is also very scary for your children as they don't want to accept that there might be something actually wrong! I know how hard it was to accept it with both of my parents.
Good luck and keep your spirits up. We're always here..

angel_bear 10-12-2007, 06:27 PM Show your family these messages .. (surely to God they will realise you are screaming for help??)
Can you take yourself to the doctor?
You have enough cognition to use and operate a computer, you can print all these out and take it with you.
Call Emergency Service and tell them you think you've got chest pain. They will take you to hospital where you can voice your concerns.
Threaten legal action for Elder Abuse if nobody will help you.

Martha H 10-13-2007, 02:54 PM can you get on the phone and call 911? You won't even have to talk. Once the connection is made they can find your address and someone will come.
If your wife is aware of your problems, perhaps she is already working on getting someone to diagnose and treat you? I hope so.
Good luck!
Martha

ToBeFreeToRoam 10-15-2007, 12:20 AM Hi to everyone,
I am sorry, but I just have to say this. Could this be someone pulling the wool over our eyes??? A joke??
How can we be sure, Nullity tell us how we can be sure this is not a joke on us?

angel_bear 10-15-2007, 02:51 AM I must say, I am somewhat concerned at Nullity's first post which was quite 'together' and the rapid deterioration of his posts thereafter.
Nullity, your original post was a call for help. We have acted accordingly, as we do. We have all given you good basic information that you say you cannot act upon. If you really need the help, this is the best we have to offer. If we can't help you here, then perhaps you need to seek help that can be more forthcoming closer to home.
I don't know any other answers to help you, I wish I could do more.
rosariared 10-30-2007, 07:12 PM I must say, my instincts tell me that "to be free to roam" might be right. Could this message be a scam? Either way I feel truly sorry for this poor unfortunate person. Either way, He or she needs love, sympathy and support. Either way we understand your desperate NEED for attention. Either way, it's a cry for help. Either way, I will love you and pray that you get the help you need and deserve. Love Rosa "Either way"
