Hey All!
I just went through my third retrival on Tuesday and they got 10 eggs. Yesterday the nurse called and they said that 8 out of the 10 fertilized and they scheduled me for a tentative day 3 transfer. Well I just got a message on my cell stating that the day 3 transfer is still going to happen whcih has me a bit concerned with the quality of the embryos. You see my first IVF was a day three transfer and there was no implantation and it was explained to me then that they hoped that the embryos would develop until day five. Anyway my second transfer was a day 5 and it was successful in, however I miscarried shortly after. My question to you all is what are the sucess rates of a day 3 transfer? Is there a good chance?

Hi Jenny,

Congrats on making it through another e/r & getting a good fert report. :) My understanding is that day 5 transfers do have a better success rate than day 3 transfers. However, that does not mean that day 3 transfers don't work. I had a day 3 transfer, and I got a bfp. Unfortunately, my numbers didn't double and things didn't work out. But 3 day transfers DO work. They wouldn't do them if there was no chance.

Hang in there and try not to worry. I know it's impossible not to worry, but try your best to just be positive and let things unfold as they are going to.

Sending you lots of luck for your transfer. Please let us know how it goes and how many you put back. Hope to be celebrating bfp w/ you in 2 weeks! :D

I just got off the phone with my nurse and she reassured me that everything is fine. It turns out that there needs to be 6 embryos with four cellular (sp?) division to meet the criteria for a day 5 transfer and just my luck I have 5 embryos. What confuses me the most is that I have one embryo frozen from my last IVF and I asked if it would be possible to use that embryo to consitute the criteria. The nurse explained to me that there was no idea to thaw out that embryo that the 5 that they have "Look REALLY good." I am still apprehensive to the day 3 transfer though.

Hi Jenny! I'm so happy you got such a good fert report!! WOW!!! 8 out of 10!!! Sorry, darling, I know that's not the point, but that made me so happy to see! :D

I don't think you shoudl worry about the 3 days transfer too much, and the nurse, when you spoke to her, she sounded very encouraging. If there was anyhting wrong, I'm sure they would have told you.

I know it's impossible not to worry, but I think it's very, very important that you try and stay nice and calm and think very positively. Those embabies need a happy Mommy to snuggle into :D:D:D
