Hello Everyone ~ I was just wondering when teething generally begins in babies. My daughter is two 1/2 months old and is a drooling fool! Our pediatrician told us that this is generally the beginning stages, yet this seems very early. When do infants usually cut their first tooth? Thanks!

Hey LauraLu -
DD got her first tooth with no warning (no drool, crankiness, etc) at 5 months. Then the misery started. My nephew started teething around 3.5 / 4 months and didn't get his first tooth until 7.5 months.
Joel seems to be drooling alot now and he's not quite 3 months. Occasionally, he'll grab my finger, stick it in his mouth and chew on it - not sucking but chewing. So I figure he's in the early stages. Generally, teething starts between 3 and 5 months.
Hope this helps!

I'm actually learning that that is not an uncommon age to start. I wouldn't be expecting a tooth anytime soon though. My son started teething at 3 months (very grumpy spells, drooling like crazy, etc.) but his teeth didn't break through 'til 4 months.
