I'm an 18 year old male living with what I think is genital herpes but I'm not quite sure. I have these little white dots on my penis and I do not know how I got them. (No they do not bleed) I have the minor itchy symptoms sometimes but nothing serious I should mention. Well I tried popping them with my nails and can sometimes extract the water inside the bubbles. I thereafter clean the area with alcohol and it burns hell! I have NEVER engaged in any type of sexual activity..yes no one-night-stands, girlfriends, oral sex whatever. I also keep my penis clean never forgeting my personal hygiene. I have examined my penis now and it seems the white dots are spreading slowly to the shaft of the penis. Is this the early symptoms leading to future GENITAL HERPES? I need your help!

There is no "future genital herpes". You either have it or you don't.

You need to go see a doctor and get diagnosed.

And it's possible to have genital herpes even if you are a virgin. You may have oral herpes, have touched your mouth, and then your genitals. That's just one scenario. But we can't diagnose you here.

Something is wrong - even if it isn't hereps, you need to see a doctor

I have never had anybody's mouth come into contact with my penis.
I do not have cold sores in my mouth nor did I ever touch my mouth and then the penis. I have never kissed anyone on the lips.
I have taken a look at pictures depicting male genital herpes symptoms on the internet.
The white dot- semi tini bubble whatever reminds me of some specific type of cancer. I am now very frustrated and beginning to believe that you can be borned with genital herpes EVEN IF you did not HAVE SEX in any way. Damn it why me. I am a responsible person..help Catherine1@!

If this is a new Herpes (HSV) infection for you, then it is too soon for a blood test. An accurate blood test usually takes up to 4 months to be accurate--your body has to have time to build the anti bodies. You need to see a doctor and get the bump swabbed for a culture. This will tell you if you have HSVI or II or you may not even have HSV at all. If for some reason you have to touch these bumps, be sure to wash your hands with warm soap and water before touching anything else, especially your eyes. HSV is a managable disease but you need to see a doctor to find out what these bumps are.

Cruise Control,

YOU DO NOT HAVE HERPES MATE!!! What you do have sounds like a normal variation of the penis which is most likely one of the following conditions:

1. Pearly penile papules are raised bumps of somewhat paler color around the base of the glans and are normal.
2. Fordyce's spots are small, raised, yellowish-white spots 1-2 mm in diameter that may appear on the penis.
3. Sebaceous prominence are raised white bumps similar to Fordyce's spots on the shaft of the penis, located at the sebaceous glands and are normal.

The penis is covered in sebaceous glands. Every so often these glands can get slightly infected and get puss inside them and show up as little whiteheads or dots which can appear all over your penis depending on how lucky you are.

THEY ARE COMPLETELY NORMAL. In my opinion, given your history it is very unlikely (if not impossible) for to you have GENITAL herpes and this is most likely what is causing your problems.

I have had it my whole life since a teenager. You can pop them and puss comes out. They can also get infected and turn into pimply cyst things. I have had the Dr perform swab tests on mine and they ALWAYS show negative for herpes.

Dont stress mate you are absolutely fine and I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about whatsoever. Nothing is wrong with you mate. These conditions are completely normal as you will find out as you research further.

I suggest you do not pop them or apply alcohol to them as this will only aggravate them and potentially make them infected. Just learn to live with them as they are not going away. I am 28 and still have them, I have had them since my mid-teens atleast...

Many many men have this condition, however women do not. So if you go see a Dr make sure it is a male one as you will probably find he has them himself and can explain it better to you. Do a web search on sebaceous prominence aswell. If you seek further guidance on the issue then I suggest you speak to other males about as they can probably relate. I know my dad and brother said they had it when I asked them.

No offence Catharine or Raven but the poor kid must have been worried out of his mind after reading your posts and for no good reason whatsoever. The kid has NO SEXUAL HISTORY whatsoever therefore it is ridiculous to suggest that herpes is causing his problem and again is creating unecessary fear in him and other readers of his post with similar problems. Please choose your words wisely as people are looking to you for education, support and guidance.

Alex -

It's impossible to diagnose someone accurately on the internet. I would never say to someone absolutely that "YOU DON'T HAVE HERPES MATE" - what if it turned out they did?? That is why we always recommend they go to the doctor. As well, having no sexual history doesn't mean you CAN'T have genital herpes

Cruise Control - It's possible to have herpes if you are a virgin and have had no sexual contact. This isn't what anyone wants to hear, but yes, it's possible. It's not very likely, but it has happened before. I doubt that you were born with it. That scenario is possible, but extremely rare. It results in encephalities in the infant and you'd know if you had that!! :) Don't worry about being born with it.

The fact is, now that the herpes possibility is in your brain, you won't be able to banish it until you see a doctor. That's always the best bet anyway when something is wrong. Go see a doctor, let him swab the bumbs and do a herpes test just to make sure, and let him set your mind at ease.

The chances are, you don't have herpes. But in order to relieve the stress of no knowing - see a doctor.

Keep us updated!! :)

He doesnt have herpes. The chance is soooo extremely minute that it is not worth worrying about at or even considering.

Go to the Doctor Cruise but dont go there thinking you have herpes. I do think you need to go to put your mind at ease. He will tell you what I told you - that you have nothing to worry about. Sleep well at night mate you are normal.

White dots on penises are normal. Catharine - u r not a man so I am sorry you would not have experienced the phenomenon.

Women get the same white dot cysty type things as you boys are describing in this thread. The phenomenon does exist in a womans world.

Wanted to clear that fact up.

Thanks for the reply Alex26
Well let's say I don't have the actual Genital Herpes disease, but stuck with the #1 & #3 symptoms mentioned above. Knowing that you experienced something similar.. Is it possible for these symptoms to be spreaded to somebody else through sexual contact, skin to skin, and etc.

No absoloutely no chance. You dont have a disease or an STD it is just a normal variation of the skin down there so you cannot spread it.
