View Full Version : Lovenox & other meds after E/R

Good morning all,

I had my first E/R yesterday. I am curious what meds others are on/were put on after their E/R. I am on:
Prometrium cap (200 mg) intravaginal 2x/daily
Estrace (estradiol) 2MG 2x/daily
Doxycycline 100mg 2x/daily
Lovenox (injection)

I thought my RE had said that the Lovenox was to help prevent OHSS, but when I searched this board the only threads on it had to do with preventing blood clots that can cause miscarriages. Since I have never been pregnant and therefore no history of that as a problem, I wondering if it does help with OHHS as well or if I am on it "just in case." Thoughts?

Thanks,
Marie

Hi Marie,

I can't remember exactly what I was taking at the time of my e/r, but I am almost certain lovenox wasn't one of the meds. Sorry I can't help you more. Can't wait to read your fert report in your other tread!! :)

Hi Marie! Like Holly, I also was not prescribed lovenox. I continued with my doxycycline, took a medrol a few times, and of course I now continue to take the progesterone injections each evening. Wish I could help you more!

Thanks gals! I will ask my RE's office on Monday why I am on it, and then let you know. They gave me a month's prescription. It is the most painful injection so far.

Hi Marie, I have heard of levonex being used I think it helps with water retention too. I also had to take medrol, doxy for 5 days, Prog injections, prog suppositories and estadoil sticker on my belly, baby aspirin and my prenatal of couse. I don't know what med they put in my iV for oHHS. I hope the injections get better perhaps you can use numbing cream on the area before hand? AimeeM

Hmmm if it helps with water retention than that might be the connection with OHSS. Again, when they handed me the script they said it was b/c the were concerned with OHSS, but then I wondered when I didn't see anyone else mention it. I haven't heard of numbing cream. That sounds like a great trick. I did just read about icing the injection spot too.

Thanks Aimee!

Marie

First of all wishing you all the best for this cycle and really hpe that this will be it for you.
I am also on levenox...locally it is known as clexane. These are a form od heparin shots which help to reduce blood clots thus making the blood less viscous.
In my case i am taking them to reduce the risk of blood clots due to a blood disorder i have. I have been taking them for around 18 week and that is as soon as i found out i was pregnant.
My situation is different ...sorry i can t really help but thought i d let you know.

Take care

Amy

Hmmm interesting. I plan to clarify with my RE why I am on it and for how long. They gave me a month's presciption. I will post when I find out.
