i went to the doctor recently after i had an ear ach for about a week and some bumps on the top of my mouth started forming and the gum area around my teeth was inflamed, like severe gingivitis. there was also a blister under my tounge at the time. i asked for an std test, so they took blood and the swab in my penis. the doctor said she couldnt tell me what it was til after the blood test came back. But i looked at pictures on the internet of oral herpes, and it mostly looked like what i was experiencing. it has progressively gotten worse. the infected gums on the top of my mouth has spread from one side to the other. and has started to bleed. i have a bad taste in my mouth constantly. also within the past 24 hours several blisters have formed inside my mouth. i have a fever off and on also the chills come and go. i am extremely fatigued, and sore all over. the doctor said she could only give me magic mouthwash. which has only made the infected area numb for about 10 minutes after use. i have just started taking lysine after reading that it helps. should i ask for valtrex or other herpes medication? or wait for the test to come back? should i continue to brush my teeth, or does that spread the virus? also i have tried sleeping with my mouth open cause i figured bacteria spreads in warm areas. please any guidance will be greatly appreciated. thank you.

So your at the doctors office telling her about the sores in your mouth and she swabs your penis? I'd march right back in there while your mouth is screwy and have her swab the sores in there. Do you have sores on your penis too? You dont mention that in your post but maybe I just didnt see that part.

If you are acquiring herpes, like this is your first outbreak, your blood work will not show that you have the virus. As you've already read probably, the virus needs to be in your system for a period of time (3-4 months give or take) before you will show enough antibodies.

Thank you for your reply. i took your advice and went back to the doctor. also because my body aches and fever were getting worse every day. she looked in my mouth and told me that she was pretty sure it was herpes but she didnt know which type. she said that the blood test would tell her then we could go from there. she gave me some anti virul pills though (acyclovir). i asked about valtrex cause ive read how good it works but she said that since she didnt know what type it was yet that she couldnt prescribe that. also that valtrex was used mainly for type 2. its been about a day and the body aches and fever are gone but the sores in my mouth and around my gums have not changed, i would say they have spread some more. how long is this gonna last? i know everybody is different but im afraid pretty soon im not going to be able to talk. should i go see someone else? i dont know what to do. and no i do not have any thing on my penis as of yet.
is it normal for herpes to be all over your gum line, front and back? should i change my sheets and pillow case everyday? can it spread to my hands if i wipe my mouth with them? if i swallow my spit can it stay alive and travely through my body?
she also said that if i have had any cold sores in the past that i will more that likely test positive for type 1 with the blood test and if she swabbed it. if thats the case then i dont understand why she even ran the test. cause i know i have had cold sores before, just never this severe.

any suggestions, comments or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
