What does this mean? thank you. Kaycee41 10-14-2007, 10:05 AM I wish I knew. I just had blood work done and mine were 435. Dr. said that dehydration could cause them to be high, so he had me go back two weeks later for retest. This one came back at 411....still too high. When his nurse called me she said he wanted to see me for follow-up appiontment. So, I'm waiting to see him to find out where we go from here. Each lab has their own "normal range". The lab I used said normal was 150-400, so I don't think 411 seems too high, but I don't now if it is high enough to require further testing or meds (Plavix or something). Strokes run in my family, so I'm wondering if high platelets also run in the family? Please let me know what you doctor does and I will do the same. My other numbers were normal...WBC, RBC etc. Doctor also said that infection can cause high platelets and I read that cronic inflammation can cause it. thirysomething 10-14-2007, 06:51 PM Platelets are a part of your complete blood count. They are the clotting factor in your blood. Your cbc can fluctuate from day to day. However, there could be another reason they are high. I suggest seeing a hematologist to put any worries behind you. |
