OK - I could hardly get into my jeans this morning!!!!
I was on Fosamax for 11 weeks - just stopped last week. I noticed that I was starting to bloat up. This last couple of weeks I noticed that I gained 4 lbs. So I started walking more. It's not doing anything! I haven't been on the scales for a week now.
I know it has to be the Fosamax. I have been a small person all my life and the scale never moves no matter what I eat.
Anyone else with this experience? If so, did you lose it or do I have to stay this way until the Fosamax leaves my system completely - what's that 5-10 yrs? Yikes.

PEPPURR :
Yes, many people have reported some weight gain from Fosamax, and from the other bisphosphonate meds, too (Boniva, Actonel). And yes, it has been reported that Fosamax CAN remain for up to 10 yrs, or thereabouts, in your system, even after stopping it. I believe the same applied to Boniva and Actonel, but I'm not sure how long THOSE meds can remain in your system, but I'm willing to guess it's for a long time, too:( Actually, if the weight gain was the only side effect you had from the Fosamax, you're lucky. You can read about the side effects reported from patients on a site called ''askapatient''. You just type in the name of the med, and then go from there.
Good luck with your treatments:angel:

Thanks for responding montesflus. I knew it had to be the Fosamax because I've been the same weight for 24 yrs!!
I quit Fosamax last week after experiencing some side effects (aching jaw for one) so I started doing some research and ended up here. I was only on it for 11 weeks. Good riddance. I just hope my body won't take long to get back to normal!
Thanks for that link. I shall mosey on over there!

Yikes! I was reading at the aska patient for about an hour! Unreal!
I also did a search here and gave up with a couple of threads with the same subject. Should have done that before I started a new thread.

I'm FUMING too!! I did a lot of reading this afternoon and one person said they were on Fosamax for 11 months and it took 3 months to get back to normal. So you with 2 weeks and me with 11 shouldn't be too bad.
ETA - the above was for weight gain. Other people who had symptoms same as you (nausea) said they were feeling better in 2-3 weeks).
