I'm not sure what your pain is coming from, but I'd say a trip to the gynecologist would be helpful in finding out. I completely understand your nervousness at seeing a gynecologist, but gyns are not just for sexually active people. You still have a reproductive system to take care of, and it actually couldn't hurt to get a check-up, even if you won't be sexually active for a long time.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, whether you're having sex or not, you still have to maintain your health and a gynecologist can help you do that. They are not as scary as you think, in fact, most are pretty sensitive to the fact that you're scared. You could have some kind of infection or menstrual disorder and the only person who can really get you help is the gynecologist. Good luck!

The bottom line is you are having pain where you shouldn't be having any. If it is continuing you need to see a doctor. You can first go to an ordinary doctor, MD or DO, and they might be able to help you.

Sooner or later you will need to buck up and see an OB/GYN. This is a natural and normal part of being a woman. If it makes you more comfortable, see a female doctor.

Good Luck.

hersheys, it is hard to tell what is wrong. Anytime there is pain, it is best to see a doctor just to put your mind at ease and get rid of the pain. Highly recommend a female ob/gyn. Always makes me feel more comfortable. If you don't have it checked out, most likely the pain is going to continue. Best wishes.

I had pain similar to that when I had an ovarian cyst. Would be a good idea to see a doctor. I just seen a family doctor for that who sent me for an ultrasound to diagnose it.

Around the time of ovulation, vaginal discharge can increase, and even be mucousy. It is possible that is what you are experiencing.

Hi

Sounds like it might be a cyst on the ovary. Pretty common, but can sometimes lead to a bigger problem. Make an appt with an OB-GYN and let them check it out, okay? Get to the bottom of it now and let the doctor help. could be nothing at all, also, and just some pre-period discomfort. Always best to get any little thing checked out like this to eliminate a lot of worry and to eliminate any thing bigger from developing.

Try not to be afraid. Smiles. Fear just magnifies it and makes our imaginataions go coo-coo sometimes. Just be brave and make that appointment.

Any chance you were ovulating when this happened? I get these symptoms during ovulation. Probobly should check it out though.

New,random and brief occurences like these also take place as we age. And from my own experiences, a lot of changes similar to yours have happened since I turned 21, (a few months ago.) You could be near ovulation, which is the reason for this. But if it makes you feel better, than just make an appointment, and ask your doctor about it. Never hurts!

I agree with kdel. It sounds like mittelschmertz. Sometimes when you ovulate, you can feel the egg when it is released. Sounds like what you experienced.....

yes, i have had that too. If it goes away, then that's likely what it is...if it continues, get it checked out.

best, c

If its aroung two weeks after/before you periods.. You could be ovulating. Thats what the mucas is all about.
If discomfort persists, see a doctor.

Could you be a bit more clear on the timing of your menstrual cycle? In your first post you said that the last time you got your period was 'the end days of Sept.' and then in a follow-up post, you mentioned that your period always starts on time. Are you late or have you skipped a period?

It could be mittelschmerz but...you mentioned that you have pain in your lower back as well as your abdomen. Mittelschmerz pains tend to be localized to the abdomen. The fact that you have lower back pain can indicate a kidney infection or another type of problem.

I believe Reachout gave good advice by telling you to go to the doctor's. Jot down a few notes about your symptoms. For example: describe the pain (dull, aching, stabbing, shooting), how often does it hurt, how long has it been happening, what makes it better or worse? Then seek out a female OB/GYN if it will make you more comfortable and ask someone you trust to go with you (mom, sister, aunt, best friend). Most often, they are allowed in the room with you and can hold you hand or give you moral support.
