View Full Version : Geographical Incidence of Herpes

Hello All -

I was just thinking this morning about how posts on this site seem to indicate that herpes is viewed differently in different parts of the world. There was also a comment recently about how the amount of herpes infections seems to be higher in certain areas of the world - Australia was mentioned.

I did a bit of searching for this online, and didn't come up anything. I'm wondering if anyone has any facts/suspicions/theories about the incidence of this virus - not only in the US (where most of the stat's seem to come from), but all over.

It's just curiosity, but I thought if enough people were interested enough in this to post an opinion, it might give us all something to chew on!! :)

Cheers!

Yo Catharine,

Interesting thread. I'll poke around a bit and see if I can come up with some data for you.

Along the same sorta lines I was beginning to wonder if there was a seasonal aspect of herpes. (I realize there really isn't) seems since I've joined this site my extended family of others with forever friends grows in spurts. Seems like theres an influx at different times of the year. Right now being a popular time.
Which co insides with my first outbreak.I'm pondering what my anniversary gift to me from me should be.. (tongue in cheek here)

My curiosity isn't really a challenge for data but just something thats been rolling around in that space between my ears.

Cheers girlfriend,

Hey California -

I suck at internet research - it took me forever to even find this site!! So me not finding anything doesn't mean much!! :) I'm not technologically inept, just not good on the net!!

Anniversary present - ice cream and alcohol??? Better yet, go out and spend a whole lot of money you don't have on something you've been wanting for awhile!! Regardless of what we celebrate, every once in awhile that's necessary!!

Cheers!

Love your suggestions for anniversary ideas.

I looked in my reading material for the quote of numbers regarding Australia and of course in my brief quick scanning I didn't find it.

I know I read it somewhere though. Maybe it was another book of mine. hmmmmm

When time permits (and I feel like it) I'll check out that other book.

I'll take a look, thanks.

California - don't stress it on my account, I'm just curious. It's certainly not urgent!

I was thinking the same thing regarding certain times there seems to be more people finding out they have herpes on this site. There seemed to be a lot of people around Aug thru Sept months. I was infected in the month of August. So my two year anniversary just elapsed. I think it has something to do with people getting busy in the summer months....summer lovin'.

The Tagamet has been helping me as I have just started a new job and already have a bad knee and so chronic H symptoms is not something I can handle on top of everything. But unfortunately the Tagamet only helps so long as I take it EVERY DAY, 4-5 times per day, just like being dependent on Acyclovir. I've been hoping it would put this virus into submission, remission, whatever you wanna call it, but mine is very determined to leer its head every 4-5 hours, then I have to take a pill again. I have not yet invested in the ozone generator and cannot get ozone treatments now as I am working a lot in a new state and don't know of any health care providers, much less how to get to the grocery store on my own. Anyway, I bought some NEEM pills after reading from a H sufferer that she takes 10 pill 2x/day to keep it away. I started taking 8 pills at a time yesterday and did notice I didn't feel I needed to take the Tagamet. I could feel it helped keep the symptoms away for a few hours, just like the Tagamet. So maybe I'll just take 8-10 pills 2x/day and see if I can avoid the acid reducing drug, Tagamet. Maybe it can even do a better job and actually put the virus to sleep for a prolonged period of time. That would be super!

I got it in December and at the time it seemed like a lot of people got it then. So it is just what you are in tune to.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary Ca. Girl....I found out I had herpes the same week as my 21st wedding anniversary (while on vacation). Had to wait a week to see doctor.

I think we should add herpes to the wedding anniversary sheet for gifts.. That must be one of your most memorable vacations

Yeah, it really ruined my vacation, we slept on opposite ends of the king size bed....I was so upset. I got over it.
