can first starting birth control change your emotions? because I have been feeling more irritable and emotional lately? if so does it go away??

Yes, the pill can make you irritable, depressed, anxious, moody, etc. This is because birth control pills deplete B vitamins. Supplementing with a B complex vitamin usually helps. In my experience, the mood issues don't go away until you go off the pill.

I'm not sure how long you've been on birth control, but you could give it a little time to even out...many doctors will tell you to do that, give it a few months to go through your system before changing it.
However, at the end of three months, if you are still feeling irritable and emotional, you might ask to be switched to a different brand. Each one has different makeups and may affect you differently.
I was a basketcase on Depo Provera but I've been fine on two different kinds of pills for over four years now.
