Hi,
A young man in our family was just diagnosed with gout brought on by rapid (purposeful) weight loss. His problems started with tendonitus, whcih wasn't recognized before the gout flared up. His doctor and pododiatrist say this is an early indication of later problems with arthritis. Can anyone share similar experience? Does it sound right? I think the kid (he's 34) is looking at a one time thing because of the great changes he's made to his diet and weight. He's lost 60 pounds! Any comments on the tie between early gout and later arthritis?
Thanks
Steve
