View Full Version : Uninsured - need advice on lump

Hi everyone. I am a 28 year old male and am currently uninsured. I am looking for advice on a lump I found on my back almost 3 years ago. I realize nothing can replace the advice of an expert, but if this is something I'm overreacting about, I'd like to know. Anyway, about 3 years ago I found a small lump (probably about 3/4 - 1 inch big) on my back. It didn't bother me much, but I initially went to the doctor because it is deep under my skin (feels like in the muscle) and hurt sometimes when I slept on it. The doctor said it was an "intramuscular lipoma"? He asked if anyone else in my family had anything like that. I think my sister and grandmother had something like that, but I don't know for sure. Anyway he didn't run any tests and sent me home. It's been three years since then and this thing hasn't moved a smidge. Hasn't grown or anything. I am wondering if I should go back and get a second opinion, or forget about it because it hasn't grown. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If it has not changed at all in 3 years I doubt that it is cancerous. For peace of mind you could always go see a doctor, maybe a dermatologist.

Take care,

Deb
