I had a small bunion under my little toe so I had a screw put in to realign my toe bone. and they also scraped the bone. The shots hurt like h*** but I was awake and didn't feel anything after the shots. If anyone has any ?'s feel free to ask.

Hi DianeMarie73,
Good luck with your recovery! I have had surgery on both feet 3 times in the past 2 years. The last time was on June 3rd for Morton's neuroma in both feet - huge neuromas! I surely hope I am done having foot surgery. I do have the bunions on both little toes but they don't bother me too much. Mainly the callous that forms in the area gets uncomfortable. Why did you have your little toe bunion operated on? Did it hurt a lot? I am leaving mine alone as long as they don't hurt very much. Enough is enough! Sorry to hear that the shots hurt so much. I also got the shots for numbing but they gave me enough medicine in the IV to put me to sleep during that part so I didn't feel it and then they let me wake up a little but kept me pretty drowsy during the procedure. I much prefer that over general anesthesia which makes me vomit like crazy. Let me know how you are doing. I get my sutures out next Tuesday.

Dear Diane,
The surgery I had was bunionectomy for my big toes. Both feet! The dr. cut the excess bone away, broke the big toe, re-aligned it, then set it with pins and screws. You see why I had to be under general anesthesia for the procedure. I am doing great now. Good luck. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hey DianeMarie! Glad to hear that everything went well. Do your screws stay in, or get removed? I hate that the shots hurt. It's too bad that they didn't put you under. But everything is going to be better for you now! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm doing ok today I've been kind of tired and i had to have some of my cast cut away because it was cuuting into my little toe. I got the surgery because of pain and my little toe bone was dislocating from my foot. It was my choice not to get put out because i feel like crap for about a week after getting put out. the screw does stay in unless it get's loose then they make a small incision and pull it out. I hope I answered everyone's questions! I do have some burning and pain near the incision area but if I put it up like I was told it get's a little better take care!!!!! Diane

it's too bad you had to be awake for the shots! prior to my plantar fasciotomy/bunionectomy, i had one cortisone shot in my heel in the docs' office....it took five people to hold me down!!! naturally i had general anesthesia for the two procedures; but when i had to have a hematoma drained four months after the surgery, the doc himself suggested that it be done in the hospital, out-patient,with ample use of versed(sp?)to make me TOTALLY unaware!!!! so i think that's something you can ask for.....i was only "out" a few minutes, but it was worth it.....especially for the doctor, so he didn't have to worry that i'd mess things up by flailing all over the place!!!!
