I have decided to cancel my Surgery here in Arizona and head for Florida and Dr. Norman. Has anyone else done the same? Were you happy with your decision?

Well, I had my surgery 2 days ago. I am already back in Phoenix. The surgery went great! There were people there from all over the US. The day I was there, Dr. Norman did 12 surgeries. We all stayed at the same hotel. I am now on the road to recovery and I am so glad I went to Florida. Good luck to all of you guys out there that have the hyperparathyroid problem that I had. If you can afford it, go and see Norman!

How are you doing since your surgery last week? I am considering Dr. Norman's clinic, am afraid to take my endocrinologist referral for a surgeon in town. My calcium and PTH are high, sometimes in the abnormal high range, but a sestimibi scan turned up negative (very disappointing). I am 52 and have osteoporosis, which was very shocking. My physician prescribed Actenol, but I refused it and went looking on the web for reasons. That's how I stumbled into parathyroid and requested these blood tests. I have many of the symptoms, tired, body aches, hair falling out, feeling old. You really have to take charge of your own healthcare, doctors are too busy to dig deep. I am very interested in your feelings about Tampa and your results too.

Carol in TN: Where in TN are you located? I am east of Nashville. Recently diagnosed with parathyroidism. I am looking for a endocrinologist and surgeon in Nashville area who are experts in parathyroid.

hi carol1207,
Did you ever go to Dr. Norman? How are you making out now with your high calcium and pth? What were your levels also, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks.
