i am currently on OrthoTricyclen Lo and i'm thinking about changing it. i originally got it to help with my acne and the cramps with my period. it helped with my acne somewhat and made my cramps go away. i've been at it for almost a year and i'm noticing it isn't helping my acne as much and i've become quite hormonal, i'm crying at things that i wouldn't have given a second thought to. is it worth talking to my doctor about changing to a different pill? what are other people's experinces changing pills? thanks!

You can certainly change if it's not working for you anymore. However, keep in mind that the emotional stuff is something you might experience with any pill. This is because birth control pills, in general, deplete B vitamins, hence depression, mood swings, etc. Supplementing with a B complex vitamin helps, though. As for the acne, look for a pill that is low in androgens (male hormones). You can do a search on the web for some. Some examples are: Ovcon-35, Brevicon, Desogen, or Ortho-Cept.
