If you search out the Valtrex transmission study results, you'll see something like this:

If you do nothing but avoid sex when she's having an outbreak or feeling one coming on, the risk of you (a male) getting infected (from a female) is about 4% each year. Using condoms and her being on suppressive meds will drop that percentage to less than 2% each year. Turn that number around, you have a greater than 98% you will NOT get infected each year. Not bad huh?? These are study results, and as they say 'your mileage will vary'.
