My 11 month old seems to be displaying her first temper tantrums..
crying.. whining.. flattening on the floor..to get something she tried to get but couldn't.

Any ideas on how to approach temper tantrums ?

I know, the first time I saw DD throw herself on the floor, I thought to myself, WHAT IS THIS? I have found two things to be helpful at this young age (DD is 13 months). First, try redirecting to a new activity. DD is very quick to get engaged into something else and forgets about what she was upset about. Also, I try ignoring her and going over to play with one of her toys. This usually makes her interested in the toy, but doesn't reinforce to her that I will pay attention to that behavior. Then when she quits, I give her lots of attention/hugs so that she will hopefully know that this is the behavior will get a response from mom! Good luck!:)

My daughter is 18 months and she started about 1-2 months ago. I hate it! Especially when we are out and she will lay right in the middle of Target's or the grocery stores isle. I also redirect her, that is the best. If she is really, really throwing a fit, normally it is at home, I ignore her or let her cry because it makes her tired. It is hard sometimes.
