View Full Version : Looking For An Alternative To Prevacid For GERD? It Causes Neck Pain And Gas?

I have GERD and am on Prevacid for it. I had a bunch of changes at one time, GERD medicine, moved, new job, etc... So up until now, I assumed my problems were stress related.

I have been on Prevacid for about 3 months or so now. At first, I did not think it worked.

Fast forward to now and I know it is helping, but it seems to cause me to be gassy and I usually wake up with a sore neck (very strange).

I went off Prevacid for a couple of days and most of the gassy feeling and I did not wake up with a sore neck.

Of course, my GERD was very bad those days I went off it.

I go back on it and of course, I had the sore neck and am gassy now (I skipped lunch).

I tried most of the over the counter medicines and none of them worked. I am thinking that I did not stay on them long enough to see though. It seemed to take almost two months to work for me, and I still have a few issues a day with having to clear my throat.

Any suggestions for me as to what medicine to ask my doctor about?

Thanks

Try apple cider vinegar, honey and baking soda. I use two tablespoons of acv, one teaspoon on honey and one quarter teaspoon of baking soda, three times a day. Since starting this regimen my heartburn is GONE and other symptoms such as wheezing and breathing difficulties are almost gone. I've been doing this for just over a week and am thrilled with the results. Not being a 'doctor' person, this was my only remedy.

Let me add, I mix the acv, honey and baking soda in water. Sorry for the omission.

Thanks. I used to use ACV, and I forgot about it. I will need to pick a bottle up right away.

Thanks
