View Full Version : Crying in his sleep

This may sound odd to some people, but for a few nights now, maybe closer to a week, DS has had times that he's been CRYING in his sleep. It never lasts real long, a few seconds up to about a minute or so. Sometimes it's a whimper, sometimes it's more of a shriek. Sometimes it's actually crying. The whole time he's asleep. It's not just a normal cry though, it's clearly a painful cry. He was put on Zantac for reflux about a month ago. Maybe it's the reflux that's hurting him and making him cry? He sees his doctor in less than 2 weeks. Maybe I should just mention it during that appointment? I'm so confused.

My DD cried in her sleep too a few times. It was really wierd though because she really wasn't awake (or aware perhaps). I attributed it to her body figuring things out on it's own since I know in the beginning their bodies do things automatically without any real conscious intention behind the gestures. (like those early smiles that are so cute, but completely random.)
FYI- my dd also was on zantac for reflux so maybe it is reflux related.
I'd ask the Dr.

My DD does this often. Never are there any tears, though. It comes sometimes close to a few times a day, then nothing for a few days. I never really worried about it. My daughter is on Prevacid for reflux, so maybe it is a reflux trait? Or maybe it could be some babies simply dream differently then others? :)

it could be teething too. my daughter has done that as well but she doesnt have reflux or anything. i was told it was teething(scared the crap outta me!) and sure enough it was. yah your doctor can suggest some reasons -good luck! i'm sorry for all of you moms who have babies with reflux. you're all very strong!

Hunter has done this too on and off for a couple months. I think it is either reflux related or teething as well. Good luck! ;)

Hi,

My little one does this when she has an ear infection! It breaks my heart to hear her cry especially in her sleep.

Good luck!
Koukla
