Hi There.
I think I am losing my mind with anxeity and parania. I had unprotected sex 5 years ago and recently got an HIV test and came out negative.
A day after the blood test was taken on the same arm I saw some tiny blood spots they went away after a day. I am so paranoid that the needle in the blood test perhaps infected me thats why the blood spots came up. Am I crazy i cannot help the anxiety

Yeah, you must be crazy, because no one gets HIV from a test, if that were the case, no one would ever get tested. 5 years is plenty of time, and the test was right. You are negative, and don't convince yourself otherwise. So many people convince themselves that the test is wrong. The test is right and if you can't accept that, then the only other option is to talk to someone about it, like a counseler or therapist.

The needles used in the tests are sterile and ALWAYS brand new. I don't know what to tell you of the blood spots, maybe an irritation? At any rate, I wouldn't worry, so long as they go away. If they persist, please see a doctor, but if I had to guess, I'd say that they're probably just an irritation caused by the needle. Regardless, it is not HIV, and I can promise you that.

Yeah, I think a lot of people should get counseling for their anxiety. I understand that HIV can be terrifying, and that even a negative test result may not rid the anxiety, a lot of people don't realize that there's not much we can do here on this message board. Just remember this, needles used in the HIV tests are ALWAYS brand new, and sterile. There is NO way that someone else's blood could've gotten into your needle, no way, no how. You don't need to worry. Also, the test is definitely accurate, just to make sure you understand that (a lot of people don't realize how accurate the test is). There is no way it was in error, not possible
