ok so last night dh and i noticed that our 6 month old son had one eyelid that was lower than the other, we didnt really think much of it and thought he might have rubbed it or bopped himself with one of his toys,
well we woke up this morning and i freaked out, his left eye is soooo swollen he cant even open it, it looks like someone has punched him hard in the eye (which of course NO ONE HAS) so i called dh back from work and we took him to A&E the nurse thought it was an allerigc reaction (can you get it in just one eye?) but his arways and mouth are fine and not swollen at all. we finally saw a consultant who said it wasnt conjunctivitous,(which i knew cause there is no crustiness at all and he isnt trying to itch it)
he said it could be a delayed allergic reaction to the antibiotics he had last week for his excema, but he also said that he didnt know much about excema but he thought it was swollen cause he had excema in his eye,,,,,
now, i thought excema is just a skin thing, how can he have it IN his eye?? basically he was pretty useless. he has prescribed him with anti histamines to try and reduce the swelling and told us if it hasnt gone in a couple of days then to see someone.
i just feel soooo bad for him, he looks like he has gone ten rounds with a boxer its so swollen and red and he cant open it, he is still his normal happy self but ugh,,, i just wish i could make it better.
his excema is still pretty bad so i have to see the dr on tuesday (the only doctor who has ever been any help is only in on tues and weds so i only ever see her) she said she will refer him if his excema has got any better so i will bring that up with her aswell.
it just seems like one thing after another, i feel bad to have to explain myself to people when they look at him, and now i dont even want to take him out of the house because people will just think i beat him,,, which I DO NOT AT ALL!
im sorry,, im waffling as usual, but this is the only place i can vent.
thnx for reading (if you got this far lol)

i am highly allergic to cats and p'nut butter, and somewhat allergic to dust, certain pollens, etc... and sometimes i react to those things with just one eye swelling up, and yeah, looks like someone punched me! even if i just touched something that a cat was around, and then barely touch my eyelashes, my eye will swell. even baby lotion does it to me! after i lotion my girls, if i rub my eyes or touch my eyes in any way, inevitably one will swell up! so annoying!!!

it's possible he got something on his hands and then rubbed his eyes and caused the reaction. cool compresses (stick a washcloth in ice water and then put it on his eye - after you squeeze the water out of course!) always worked well to soothe my eyes when it happened. hope that's all it was! :)

Just curious (as I have not read your other post) if you are nursing? If not, could it possibly be his formula? I just ask this, b/c I have heard that eczema can get worse with certain formulas and also have allergic reactions. I hope that this gets better. Don't worry, no one should really think you beat your baby! Good luck!;)
