I have severe back pain. I do have back problems that show up in MRI-3 bulging discs, 2 levels of spinal stenosis and 2 levels of facet hypertrophy.
But my pain seems to go beyind this.
I have severe left leg weakness including no reflex in the left leg. My left hand has becomes pins and needles numb with joint problems. I have psoriasis on my hands and legs.
Lately, I have had this STRANGE PAIN...feels like it is coming from deep within me, making my inner body painful.
I have the usual pain down my left leg and sciatica areas along with major discomfort in left and right hip.
Feel a litle more fatigued than usual, especially when I get that weird inner pain.
Bone scan showed degenerative bone activity in right knee, right hip and shoulder
Sharp pain top of legs into groin
Can this be lupus? If not, is it my back or can it be something like lymphoma or cancer?
Thanks
Alan

Hello Alan,
You have not mentioned whether you have been diagnosed with arthritis? You mentioned psoriassis on your hands. I have psoriatic arthritis and all my joints are affected. At the moment, my fingers, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles and toes are very painful. My knees are the worst. I have pain in my spine frequently and the hospital have said it is the psoriatic arthritis, I have been rushed to hospital with suspected heart attack twice, only to find the bones in my chest are inflamed with the arthritis. Try not to worry too much until you have been diagnosed with your joints, as mine started after a severe flare up of psoriassis which covered my entire body. I have had the arthritis for nearly five years now and if you need to know anymore, please ask.
Hope my reply helps a little.

Hi Erf, it does not sound like lupus, but maybe could what the other post said about psoriatic arthritis? It looks like you have alot going on in your spine and probably several reasons to have pain and parasthesias due to it. I had lumbar stenosis plus large herniations. My stenosis symptoms started & progressed over 3 1/2 years to the point I was no longer able to really walk (maybe 20 to 50 feet, that was it) or stand upright. From this I also had sciatica, lots of nerve pain, pins & needles, etc. Believe it or not, probably because of my posture, I ended up with pain and spasms in almost every part of my body. I got tremors, even my face & throat had spasms, my neck killed me, I had a few episodes of pins & needles in my left hand. I completely lost my right knee reflex, my left knee had a slight reflex response. I had so many problems I don't know how I functioned every day. Finally I had surgery, and OMG just about all my pain & symptoms were gone. However, I do notice that these days my muscles don't need much to start spasming. It's like they have a memory or something.
That deep pain you describe....did you mean it's in your entire body? Or more so in your legs? Can you bend backwards? Do you have trouble walking for any length of time? What seems to make your symptoms worse?

I know this post is a little late but I just came upon it today when I just found out the other day after going to a rheumatoid doctor because of the severe pain that was getting worst and spreading from my spine, neck, joints, scull, everywhere! I too was feeling exhausted and I have muscle loss plus the pins and needles in my arms and fingers. I was dx'd last yr from an xray with osteoarthritis in my entire spine, neck, left hip, and now 3rd fingers. Plus, osteoarthritis, not the beginning of, but total osteoarthritis at the age of 47.
after going to the rheumy dr he also just told me I have fibromyalgia which I've thought all along for the past two years that I had that too, I just wasn't dx'd with it.
this is my first time being referred to a rheumy dr. thank God!
because he ran a blood test on me just for the heck of it to see why I"m hurting so much and he thought of ck'ing my Vitamin D level and guess what???
I was just told i have a vitamin D deficiency.
I was shocked my family dr never thought of running this test.
all this pain I've been suffering for a couple years now and god only knows how much bone loss I have now, all because he didn't think of testing it.
low vit. D levels can cause extreme bone pain, along with being very tired, weak, pain in lower spine, which mine was worst at night time where I couldn't even turn over in bed. I dont' weight much, only 115 lbs and I'm 5'7" tall, so it's not because of being too heavy to turn over.
there is joy in my life now that I know I can stop my pain and cure this problem.
he put me on caltrate with D in it before he found out I had a D deficiecny, now he told me to take an extra vit.D 400 IU's, plus he Rx's a new medication called voltren. an non-steroidal anti inflammatory because the original one my family dr rx'd takes too long for it to get into the body to give relief.
I can't tell you how important it is for anyone who suffers some form of arthritis or bone pain to ask their doctor to test their Vitamin D levels.
he said It should take approx. 3 months to really see improvement.
I don't know what's causing my low level of D, I was told i have malabsorption problem over a year ago, but nothing's being done for it anymore.
besides the bone pain I was suffering, the loss of my short term memory was bothering me 2nd. I was too young to be suffering the lack of memory I was.
they call it "brain fog" which is common in people who suffer with fibromyalgia.
as you can see, I am overly happy now that we found an answer.
I hope others too find some relief and I hope that my post may have helped others who don't have answers.
sincerely,.
Linda
