Any blood should be reported to your doctor. It could be nothing but it needs to be checked out.

Check out all the (3?) threads related to this issue just this week or so! Including mine. They'll be on this front page of thread listings or the 2nd.
Frankly, if you have bright red blood for a few BMs but then it goes away, probably no big deal. Especially if you felt some kind of pain, like burning or tearing, either while going or when wiping. Wipe with water, and apply some Vaseline to help protect any open sores that might be there.
Often it's just hemorrhoids and/or anal fissures. True that blood can be significant, but generally the chances of danger seem to be greater if you have DARK blood (dried blood that looks black or almost).
If you keep bleeding after this, you can go ask your regular doctor to take a look at you.

Even brighter red blood is worth getting checked with a doctor. It may well be a small tear or haemmeroids, but could also be a sign of inflammation in the large intestine (as opposed to the small intestine, which would come through as darker, older blood). Especially if you have other symptoms such as bloating, dull belly ache, nausia, arthritis, I'd go to the doctor to rule out colitis/IBD. I have mild Ulcerative Colitis. It's not the end of the world, but is worth knowing about so you can get regular check ups and watch your blood for anaemia and other related problems.

Go get it checked out. Any blood needs to be diagnosed by a Doctor not yourself.

Sorry to "butt" in, but I didn't want to start a new thread about the same thing.. I have had this on and off my whole life for straining and stuff related to hemorrhoids, but the last couple days there has been no straining involved but still blood. I have NEVER had any pain, any itching, no tenderness, etc.. so I just put it off. I really just want to get it checked out and be done with it but don't have a regular doctor, I only go to specialists when I get sick. I have been searching for a GP, but I don't want my first time to be like.. hey, check out my butthole.. Instead I'd rather go to a physician who deals with this regularly.. So I'm looking through the phone book and don't know what type of dr to call?
And honestly.. is it really weird getting checked out for this? I'm still getting used to the gyno and have been going since I was a teenager.. I still get freaked out and stuff. I wanted to go for this before but never knew who to call, or what to say.. thanks is advance.

bright red blood comes form the rectal regine dark red blood or dark stools
comes from the internal area, a colonoscopy is the grade a check to find
out crohn's or colitis or diverticulitis, its good to do this to find out for sure.
if you wipe red bright blood or have streaks down the side of stool or have
some in the bowel its a good Chance its hemorrhoids or fissure , fiber diet
and colace or miralax should work and lots of water
