I had a kidney stone over the summer, and it passed. It was in my left kidney. On my many x-rays it showed there is another stone in my right kidney. However, this weekend I'm feeling dull pain in my left kidney, where the initial stone occurred. Could a stone have formed in my left kidney since my last x-ray in the summer? Could it be causing the pain?

I had a renal nuclear scan done on a Wednesday and no stones were found. By Friday an x-ray was done and the stone was 3 mm. So they can be fast forming.

I have had several tests this summer for stones. Right after I qwould pass some, they would say I was empty, but then I would eitehr end up in ER with another (or two) or have anotehr test done and they would say I am full of them. A month ago I was told the biggest stone I had was 2 mm, and now I have a 4 mm, and a 5mm (one in each kidney) as well as several smaller ones in both kidneys. Apparently they can form pretty quickly, or else some tests miss them (probably a combo).
