View Full Version : Concern about recent encounter

Hello all. Three weeks ago, I had an encounter with a sex worker in Bangkok, Thailand. We used a condom for most everything - including when she performed oral sex on me. The only two aspects of our encounter that weren't protected were when I performed oral sex (cunnilingus) on her and a brief instance when I stroked her clitoris with my fingers (no insertion).

Now I'm back home and have had a few worrisome symptoms: headache, fatigue, some weakness. I have not had a fever or any kind of gastrointestinal issues.

I only came home about a week ago and traveled eastward from India to the United States - so my symptoms might be jet lag.

But I just wanted to write here and get peoples' thoughts: should I be concerned? Is this something that might be HIV onset symptoms?

Thank you all in advance for your time and consideration.

No, you did not take a risk so long as you used a condom. Theoretically, you could contract HIV from cunnilingus if there were blood in her vagina and cuts in your mouth, but I highly doubt that would be the case. Even if blood were present, there'd have to be a decent amount of it making it's way into your mouth for infection to occur. I'd say you are absolutly fine. However, to ease your mind, it's best to get yourself tested. Remember, symptoms of onset HIV are symptoms to so many other things; they aren't good indicators of HIV. You simply cannot rely on symptoms to tell you if you have HIV because more often then not, it's something else that causes these symptoms.

Please get yourself tested just so you can put your mind at ease.

Good luck =)

Thanks, smar. This does seem like jet lag - and I'm not even sure that she was HIV positive - but will get tested nonetheless. Does seem unlikely. And I'm sure a lot of this is anxiety, psychosomatic symptoms.

Thanks again.
