About 8 months ago I realized there was a lump in my rectum. It was quite small then but now it has grown to about the size of a kidney bean. I'm only 18 years old and I can't see it being colon cancer at my age, but now I'm starting to wonder. When I have a bowel movement it feels like I have to go again a few minutes later but can't. Also there has been mucus around my anus and in my bowel movement. On a few occasions there has been blood in my bowel movement. I'm also gasy most of the time. The lump is about 2 inches in. I'm worried about it being rectal cancer, but at the same time maybe it;s just hemorids?

There is a site that describes hemorrhoids. I think it is www.hemorrhoids.net there may be illustrations of what external hems look like. If you cannot find pictures and descriptions on that site, just use a search engine to look it up. I know there are some on the net somewhere because I've seen the sites.
The lump itself and bleeding sounds like hems, but I don't know what to tell you about the gassy part or the mucus.
I have had mucus myself, but I've had colitis, and even pass mucus at times when I am very nervous and stressed.
Even though you are very young, it would be a good idea to get it checked out.
Let us know how you are doing.

Please go see a doctor. If it's hems then the doc can give meds for it. Please don't wait.

It is likely hemorrhoids, but don't delay in getting it checked. Our fear of getting things checked is nothing compared to the trauma of going through cancer therapies. Get it checked out...find out that it is most likely nothing...then move on from there!
God bless!
