Last Thursday I had my my big toe's toenail permanently removed. The procedure went OK.
Afterwards, It was wrapped up with layers of bandages etc, and I was told to keep it in place and dry for 48 hours, until Saturday. I was told to remove the bandages on Saturday, and then to put the provided plasters over the nail, and to change them every 48 hours.
When I removed the bandages on Saturday my nail was covered in a thick gel-like liquid, and there was a lot. I was also told not to touch or clean the area where my nail used to be, so as instructed I put a fresh plaster over this gunk. Is this normal?
After reading on the internet I have discovered that many people are bathing their toe in salt water. Is this safe to do?
What were you told to do, or what did you do after your surgery?
Thanks.
