Hi over 2 weeks ago l banged my poor little toe off a door it hurt like hell the pain was horrendous felt like it was in a red hot fire l actually heard a few cracks and a few splintering sounds........ l was told it was a waste of time going to hospital cos they cant do anthing for broken toes, my toe swelled to 3 times its normal size it was agony it was badly bruised and l had a deep purple wide ring right round my toe where your toe begins the outside of my foot hurt and underneath........ it has now been over 2 weeks l have blisters on the pads of my toes as i am obviously walkin in such a way as to protect my toe l did without shoes for 4 days and l have been very select with what ive wore,,, if l try to seperate my little toe from the next it is agony and to top it off this morning my so accidently put his toes near mine and it felt like my toe ahad been ripped off or more like burnt off http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif l screamed the house down the pain was excruciating that l cried like ababy http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bigcry.gif l have my foot strapped up right now but im wondering do l really need to get this seen to propally? the swelling has not gone down and l cannot seperate my toes for the excruciating pain burning......... ld be very grateful for some replies and would love to hear from anyone whose medically qualified for there advise thanx all http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I did the same thing years ago, in fact I broke both little toes and the same one again. They can't do anything for a broke toe.....except send you a hospital bill. Just tape the toes together(for support), wear a wide shoe, try a ice pack to reduce swelling. It will get better soon, maybe a month if that long. And most important from now on WEAR SHOES at all times!
