I also have callouses on both of my feet (2 on each foot) They can be very painful so I try to keep them filed down. Soak your feet then use a coarse foot file to pare it down. When they get really bad I dig them out and cut off the extra skin. I know that may not be a good idea but it helps them not to be so hard and painful when walking.

adriannita, have you tried seeing a podiatrist? callouses develop for a reason - the pressure that area of your foot has "requires" more padding, so that's why your skin cells grow rapidly and build up into callouses. wearing orthotics from the doctor might help with redistributing the pressure so that your callouses will eventually wear down and disappear. i have callouses on the sides of my big toes (next to the toenails) and sometimes i get them on the bottom of my feet. i just had bunion surgery on my left foot - so with time, i know that the callous on the left foot will wear away (my sister's neighbor had bunions w/ callouses all over her feet - months after her bunionectomy, the callouses smoothed away naturally, and yes, she had extremely thick callouses) . i've used pumice stones and files on the bottom of my feet every so often when i'm in the shower. but if they are as bad as you've made it sound, i'd suggest getting an opinion from a podiatrist. it also might be from the shoes you are wearing - when i wear my 3 inch boots, i end up with callouses on the bottom of my feet. so now i avoid wearing that pair. hope that helps you.
