Hi sanddy,

What kind of Dr. said you had a neuroma? If it was not a Podiatrist then you may want to see a Podiatrist. If it was a Podiatrist then you may want to get a 2nd opinion from another Podiatrist. I have a history of multiple forefoot problems including multiple neuromas. I have had 2 neuromas surgically removed from each foot for a total of 4 neurectomies so far. There may be more but that is yet to be determined. Multiple neuromas like I have had are not that common but certainly possible.

Symptoms of neuroma can vary from one person to another but night time only pain is not at all consistent with neuroma pain and walking or standing usually brings on the neuroma pain. The more walking or standing I did, the worse the pain got. The only relief I got from it was at night when I was in bed after my feet had a couple of hours to settle down.

It is true that x-rays will not show a neuroma and of the various treatments available, I would not undergo any neuroma treatment unless the Dr. was sure it is a neuroma. Pain at night only sounds more like neuropathy or circulation problems. If you do a google search for "foot neuroma" you should get plenty of information. You may also want to do a search for "night time foot pain or toe pain". Good luck. I hope you can get some relief for your pain.
