I was hospitalized on Sept 26th - 30th for diverticulitis. This was my first flare-up, I didn't know that I had it. I have pinhole perforations and after I have a colonoscopy next week I will be scheduling the resection surgery. Starting three days previous to my hospital stay, I had terrible pain in my right shoulder blade. In fact, the pain in my right abdomen from the diverticulitis paled in comparison to the shoulder blade pain. Although the infection seems better and I am off the antibiotics, the shoulder pain is still excrutiating. After several massages and trips to the chiropractor, my chiropractor is insisting that it is referred pain from the infection. However, my gastroenterologist says that, although it's possible, it's unlikely. But I am thinking that my chiropractor may be right because for years if I ate too much or had any kind of gas pains, my right shoulder blade area hurt. Has anyone out there experienced this?
