When I walk I put all (maybe most) of my weight on the outsides of my feet. This causes my shoes to rub on the inside of my feet and therefore causing calluses on my big toes and a little bit below also. I also get shin splints when on my treadmill walking at an incline. Is this something that can be taken care of without a foot doctor? Or should I see one? I was thinking about getting inserts but with the nice weather coming, I wear sandals a lot and wouldn't be able too. I do trim them with a tool I got, and that helps, but it would be nice to get rid of them completely! If you have any advice, please feel free to let me know!

It would be best to see a foot Dr. this way it may be corrected. If you want to wear sandals check into the Birkenstock brand. They have a contoured footbed with support made right in. You would not need to wear an orthotic with them.
