I had my endoscopy done about 2 hours ago! It was a piece of cake, although I was nervous beforehand. I didnt feel a thing, just woke up real groggy. Biopsies were taken and my follow up appt is next week. He told me to keep taking Protonix.
My doc found the following:
Mild Esophagitis
Gastritis
Possible Bacteria in stomach
Normal duodenum
If anyone needs this endoscopy done, I would do it. I was so afraid at first and this was very easy. It can make you feel so much at ease once you know what is wrong. Thanks!

YAY GAR!!! I knew it was gastritis. I am not happy that you have it but it made the most sense with all your symptoms. I'm so glad you feel better now and are getting the help you need.

The only thing is I was too drugged up to ask him if he was gonna treat the gastritis (I said some funny stuff while I was half awake lol). He just said to keep taking the Protonix. Wouldn't I need something else for the gastritis? Or does it just go away by itself? He told my mom that I should feel better by next week?

I was just given Nexium at 40 mg 1 X a day and Carafate 10ml 4 X a day which the later is a liquid. Carafate is not necessarily for gastritis though. It is also for hernias. I would talk with him about that and maybe call the office to ask if you are in need of other medication.
I can only imagine what most people say when they are drugged. :D GI's around the world could make lots of money off of that book.

Ok I may call, but they may not tell me much until my biopsy results come in. I know for a fact my stress level has gone down. My appetite still isnt there, but I think I am getting there.
