i went for my 1st post-op appt today after hardware removal of my fused toe. the dr said it lookd fine and took the bandages off so now i can shower like a normal person! i have to wear my boot for 3 more weeks and then go into a gym shoe. my foot is so swollen i cant believe it will fit into any shoe again. he also told me he removed alot of scar tissue from my hammertoe and it finally looks like my 2nd toe will now lay flat. i can actually start pt on that toe. my foot is throbbing now after i saw him. its hard to wear that boot without a bandage. i can only wear a sock and its so hard to walk. so far i am so happy and mabe there will be some kind of end. i never thought i would be posting a year later feeling happy instead of sad.

Debbie, I am jealous, you are so close to the end. You must be very, very pleased with the outcome. I forgot all about showering with the plastic bag over my foot, I will be doing that for weeks or months. I do remember after I had the pin pulled my toe after the first surgery that my foot swelled up so huge, I needed to stay home from work a few days. That's probably just from all the aggrevation that the area is under and should go away soon. (I'm sure the doc explained it all to you) Stay in touch and look for me next week after my fusion, I look forward to hearing from people on this board.

hi my foot aches a little bit and it is hard to walk in the frankenstein boot! i am getting anxious and bored, but i can walk in it. i went on the stationary bike today for the first time wearing a boys gym shoe as they are wider and i did 30 minutes. i hope you are doing ok before your surgery. keep posting.

Glad to hear your foot journey may be ending soon. Take care of yourself. Hope the swelling goes down before long. Keep us updated.
