My wife, 27 years old, is having some issues currently...

She is not having any type of bloating feeling or pain, discomfort etc....

About 4 weeks ago she was constipated and had an issue going to the bathroom. When she finally went she noticed some light blood, not in her stool but when she wiped...nothing bad but it was there...

Her issue now is that she is scared to go to the bathroom since there are still signs of blood, once again not in the stool, but when she wipes...and she is terrified...

She has no weight loss, no signs of being tired or weak, eats whatever she wants...but she is scared to go to the bathroom...

Went to see a doctor today, he did not seem all that concerned, set her up for a colonoscopy since he is a pro-active doctor, but she has to wait 2 weeks...

He said it is most likely an anal fissure, hemroids or an ulcer since she is a big coffee drinker....can anyone shed any light...

HI,

Sorry to hear of your wife's problems, but a colonoscopy is wise to find out once and for all what is wrong.

About anal fissures... most are painful and cause a sensation of being cut while having a bowel movement or being scraped by sandpaper. The scraping feeling is something I've experienced myself. Also the bowel movement is sometime followed by a spasm in the rectal area. I've only had light spasms, some have had really bad ones that last for hours.

Internal hemorrhoids can bleed and not cause pain. If a hemorrhoid is close to the anal opening, then there can be a painful sensation.

Tell her to eat lots of fruits, veggies, whole wheat bread, and drink loads of water. I know she dreads going to the bathroom, but it's better to go and have it soft than to put it off and have it harden inside. Then she is in for just more problems.

I feel like she will be just fine, but am glad she is being cautions and getting the colonoscopy.

Best of luck,
Barbara

It's good that she is getting the colonoscopy...just to be sure. It is likely hemorrhoids but it is always crucial to get things checked out early on. I didn't... Metamucil might be a good thing to take, too.

Well, thanks for everyones concerns, you are all truly angels in my mind...My wife had the colonoscopy last two days ago, the prep itself was the worst part, man was she miserable...

Nonetheless the procedure was quick, she had a little discomfort in her tummy until the air came out...the test itself was a blessing, they said she was all good, one small fissure/hemrroid that she got a prescription for...I will tell you what, the test is definately worth it, at least now we know...and the stress and anxiety is gone...thanks again and best of luck to all of you!

Ash, I am so glad that all is well with your wife. Waiting for the procedure is the worst part! I am sorry she had a hard time with the prep...I must say that neither my husband nor myself have had bad experiences with the prep or the colonscopy itself. And to get good news afterwards is the best!!

Nassau thanks for the kind words....I don't she was complaining about the prep, it just makes you appreciate food and water alot more after the fact...your right though....she remembers being wheeled in and waking up...nothing about the procedure itself...People make it seem alot worse than it is, but it is truly better knowing, and this is the best tool.

I don't my wife has any regrets, 12 hours of suffering on the prep will do wonders for the stress and anxiety that we have eliminated from both of our lives with the results...

God Bless to all!!
