I have a huge Haglunds deformity on my left heel. I have had it for years, and with wearing clogs always - never going barefoot and being very careful not to bump the heel, I have managed with it. Last Monday, I woke up completely unable to walk, and in severe pain in my right foot (NOT the deformed foot) I always have stiff ankles, but this was debilatating pain, and made me sweaty and nauseous. I went to a podiatrist who said I have plantar fasciitis, and heel spurs on both feet. He taped the bad foot (which helped) and told me to come back next week for a cortisone shot. I went for a second opinion to another doctor who says I have a Hanglunds deformity in BOTH feet (the biggest he's seen) and a neuroma in my right foot. I also have heel spurs and tendontis. He wants me to have surgery on both feet
(2 surgeries) to remove the neuroma, heel spurs, and Haglunds deformities. he wants me to have blood testing for Arthritis, and Lyme Disease. Also, physical therapy. He gave me a prescription for Naproxen. I am very scared of surgery, and confused by the differing opinions. Any ideas from people who have BTDT??? I know I have bad feet - but wow!

Ouch!...If you have the time to wait out a treatment then I think I would go for the cortisone shot first and see if that helps and if it doesn't then consider something else. I think you are wise to consider a third opinion but pick a clinic that has an MD that specializes in the foot. Perhaps even a clinic that treats athletes and all there problems. Good luck!
