I am 12 weeks and 2 days post-op. I had a talar osteophyte, bursitis/synovitis, and the peroneal nerve was "very irritated."

I was officially released from the doctors care yesterday. The results have been amazing. I can go the entire day at work without hurting and I have officially divorced the Advil bottle. It is such a great feeling. No, it was not easy to make the decision to have surgery and the recovery was frustrating and not easy at times, but I made it through.

There are things that are weird like the numbness that will likely be permanent from cleaning up around the nerve and removing the osteophyte. One area has no sensation at all, not even to temperature. My ankle gets really hot at times too.

I can look past all the weird things and eventually will get used to them. Just to have a life back is amazing. This is the happiest I have been in years and partly because I don't constantly hurt (which I didn't notice fully until after surgery) and partly because just having it behind me, I don't constantly think "my ankle, my ankle, my ankle."

I hope the rest of you get the result you are looking for too. Hang in there, you'll make it through.
