Hey everyone. I had a question. My boyfriend ex's daugther hair is in real bad shape. The side of her hair balding around the ears. Her hairline is up above her ears. The back and edge of the hairline is breaking off in the center which makes it uneven. It's drying out real bad. What can be done. He is going to take the little girl to a salon. He wonders what they might do. All feedback will be greatly appreciated.

She eats healthy. Her mother just lets her sister do it and pulls the childs hair too tight. When I saw her, her hair was down and I flat-ironed it. But she eats healthy and really doesn't have stress for an 8 year old girl.

I put grease and this hair growth formula I use called Glover's in her hair about two weeks ago.

I really don't know what a salon could do myself but try and give adbice on how to make her hair stronger.

I would advise her to go to a doctor first. That seems more like a health problem. Just because she eats healthy and appears that way overall doesn't mean that she is. Her hair is falling out for a reason.
Take her to a doctor.

I would also speak with a doctor about this... if she's a healthy girl and isn't dying her hair or using very hot tools ALL the time, that should not happen. Even if it's damaged hair from styling or coloring, usually it won't have balding areas and the hair usually just breaks off instead.

She might need some kind of prescribed vitamin or something else that can help!

I would first take her to a doctor. Do not allow a stylist to put a relaxer in her hair. Hair needs to be mositurized. Do not use grease anything that has lanolin, mineral or petroleum in it. Use a moisturizer first b & b moisturizer, scurl, wave nouveau finishing moist, surpe 14 and then seal with an oil such olive, carrot, tea tree, jojoba. Do not blow dry, braid her tight. Do not brush her hair up from the sides or forehead. If it has to be brushed, then brush from the center to the sides and forehead. Do a search on growing long and healthy hair. If she wear braids, use the braid spray faithfully.

Yeah, I would take her to the doctor first as well. The salon is just going to do her hair, not fix the problem. Let us know how she does either way. Kc

it sounds as if the poor girl is litteraly being ripped bald headed.the hair can only take so much abuse before it cant take anymore.lay off all the heat because thats just cooking the hairshaft. do take her to a dr because there could be an underlying condition.

She must definitly go to a dermatologist to define her problem & describe the proper treatment. Actually this form of baldness is called alopecia areata in dermatology. One of the causes of this condition is a fungal infection (usually tinea capitis) that cuses the hair to fall in certain areas of the scalp & sometimes the body hair too. This should be treated with intralesional corticosteroids that stimulate the hair to grow again in addition to an antifungal. Other causs are systemic diseases like thyroid disease, vitiligo...etc.
Good luck & wish her to get well
