View Full Version : Mary's Foot Surgery - Update

Had my first day at work today. Did okay, but the crutches and walker really hurt to use. I had my foot propped up under my desk, but it was uncomfortable and didn't feel good. Difficult to get it up enough I think.

I am Day 5 after surgery. Wondering if I should do 1/2 days until my follow-up appt on Nov 8.

Advice given by others in this message board was great. I got a shower chair, installed an hand shower, got fiber supplements, and am making sure I increase fiber in diet as well as protein and Vitamin C (recommended by doc at hospital). I have ordered a Dynacast cast cover online to use when showering as the plastic bag with masking tape, although it worked okay this morning, makes me nervous. I'm still using pain meds prescribed by doc at hospital (Norco) and helps. I tried switching to Alleve today but it didn't seem to have much of an affect.

Trying to find info on isometric and upper body exercises I can do now just to keep some movement.

My doc said I would get frustrated. He's right and I'm only Day 5!!!!

... to be continued:)

Mary,

I promise you things WILL get better. Be gentle on yourself and be patient. I found once I realized that healing will take awhile, my attitude changed and I was able to go with the flow.
