One would need to go to medical school. The pre-med courses can include anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, organic chem, physics. Each program has different prereq's so need to check with individual program. After finishing med school, I believe that one must do their residency where they specialize. It's quite competitive to get into medical school, just fyi. Registered nurses with additional training may become a registered nurse anesthetist.
