Hello,
My mother has had Multiple Myeloma for over a decade. Her doctor HAD (key word) done an annual bone scan to see if her bones were affected by this disease and fortunately she has shown miraculous resilience. Recently my mom had a pain in her side. Mom has a high threshold for pain so given her agonizing cries at night, I knew that something was wrong. The hospital did a rib x-ray and it was negative, then a lung x-ray negative. 4 weeks later the pain continues so they did another rib x-ray and detected a fracture in her rib. I then found out that she hasn't had a bone scan for two years. I am concerned that her bones aren't as strong as they were and this disease is finally starting to take over her body.
I am looking for people w/ Multiple Myeloma to post their stories in relation to bone strength. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
