My husband is responsible for the care of his older brother (58). He suffers from high levels of ammonia causing some confusion. He is currently in a recuperation home while trying to resolve some health issues. He is not capable of caring for himself at home because of diet and medication issues. At this time none of his siblings can keep him in their homes. Assisted living places do not feel he would be a good fit because of his age and need to be kept busy. He also is a flight risk (has done this quite a few times) and do not feel that they could keep him contained on the premises. He is not really a good fit for memory care because he is not out of it, however the homes say that is where they would have to keep him because of his diet/medication and wondering. We don't know what to do with him. We would feel to guilty putting him in a memory care place but we can't handle him. Does anyone know who we could talk to to get advice. We desparately need counseling.
